How do I contact Georgia Mortgage Licensing?

If you need assistance or have questions regarding Georgia NMLS Continuing Education, you can contact the NMLS call center at (855) 665-1123 or get in touch with the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance directly using the contact information below.

What happens if my NMLS license expires in Georgia?

If your NMLS license expires in Georgia, it won’t be valid until certain conditions are met. For example, if you missed the renewal deadline, you can take a Late 7 hour CE course plus a one-hour Late GA CE course to finish up the renewal process.  However, after a five-year period of inactivity, you’ll have to complete CE courses and retake your NMLS exam, where you’ll have to score 75% or higher. Remember, you have to complete Georgia MLO Continuing Education courses annually to continue your career as a licensed MLO.

What is the deadline to complete CE in Georgia?

You must complete all NMLS Continuing Education requirements every year by December 1. If you miss this deadline, the state of Georgia may require you to pay a $100 late fee. Plus, you’re not allowed to submit a Georgia mortgage license renewal until your CE course completion records are received by the NMLS.

Keeping up with your Georgia Mortgage Loan Officer Training and renewal responsibilities is essential to ensure your license remains in good standing.  That said, here are the renewal deadlines set forth by NMLS:

  • SMART Renewal Deadline: December 10
  • At-Risk Deadline: December 17
  • Guaranteed Missed Deadline: December 31

Keep in mind that it can take approximately seven business days for a course provider to send your course completion to the NMLS. It’s a good idea to submit your renewal as early as possible so that you don’t miss the deadline. Try to aim for the SMART Renewal submission date to ensure you can file all of your requirements on time. If you find yourself in a pinch, Diehl Education can forward your course completion to the NMLS in 48 hours.
