The SAFE ACT requires MLOs to maintain an active license status in order to continue originating. If your license isn’t expired, but you missed the deadline for renewal, it will become inactive. To reactivate your NY MLO license, you can take a Diehl Late CE Course to make up your CE requirement during the 60-day reinstatement period that expires at the end of February.
After five years of an inactive license, your NMLS Test will expire. When it expires, you’ll have to retake the NMLS Test along with NY Late CE. To ensure you pass the test successfully, we recommend using a test prep tool like Prep2Pass®.
The deadline to renew your MLO license in New York is December 31. It’s important that you complete your New York NMLS Continuing Education at least seven to ten days before the official deadline to ensure your course provider has sent records of your course completion to NMLS.
